This study discusses people's perceptions of the concept of gender in Simpang Raja Village, Talang Ubi District, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir District. The problem in this research is how is the public's perception of the concept of gender and what are the factors behind the public's perception of the concept of gender in Simpang Raja Village, Kec. Talang Ubi Kab. Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir. The purpose of this study was to find out how people perceive the concept of gender in Simpang Raja Village, Talang Ubi District, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency. As well as knowing the factors that influence people's perceptions of the concept of gender in Simpang Raja Village, Talang Ubi District. Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation. The theory used in this study is the theory of perception from Morgan and theory from Robbins. The results of this study are that people's perceptions of the concept of gender are different, there are people who think of gender as sex and there are people who don't know or have never even heard of the word gender, so it can be seen that overall people's perceptions are relative, in the sense that the response given regarding the concept of gender in accordance with different viewpoints, opinions, and experiences from one another. Meanwhile, there are many factors behind the public's perception, namely, factors from the perceivers themselves, factors from the target, finally there are factors from the situation and conditions.
