The PQRT pit is one of the pits in Site Lati which is the largest contributor to PT Berau Coal's coal production which in 2022 will reach 7,856,452 tons. Due to market demand in meeting the needs of coal has become an important matter in the mining business so that the market demand for seam P coal has also increased. Judging from the actual conditions of the PQRT pit, which is on the west side of the high wall at an elevation of -70 meters, it has the potential to optimize coal and the movement of coal prices has again increased. Therefore it is necessary to re-plan the PQRT pit design to optimize the volume of P-seam coal reserves. The design of P-seam optimization of PQRT pit coal is seen based on the cross section on the actual design of the pit. Based on PT Berau Coal's geotechnical recommendations, the planned single slope geometry is a height of 10 meters with a slope of 55o with a single slope, the width of the slope is 5 meters, the width of the road is 35 meters, resulting in the highest elevation of 80 meters and the lowest elevation of -90 meters. This pit also has an overall slope of 32° with a value of safety factor (FK) for the overall slope in the A-A' cross section of 1.28 and a single slope of 1.41. While the value of the overall slope factor of safety (FK) in the cross section B-B' is 1.27 and 1.41 for single slope. The design slope is considered safe if the value of the factor of safety (FK) is > 1.2. The results of the calculation of the total reserves for the PQRT seam coal optimization area is 114,637 tons for coal and 527,039 BCM for overburden, so the total PQRT pit reserves in 2023 when added to the optimization reserve volume is 8,066,218 tons for coal and 124,841,039 BCM for overburden. The BESR and Economic SR values generated for the additional volume of coal and overburden in the optimization pit design are 47.8 and 33.46.
