PT Kideco Jaya Agung is a company engaged in coal mining and uses an open pit mining system. During the rainy season, the flow of water entering the mining area will be mixed with the solid material it is traveling through and stagnate in temporary water storage ponds or sumps, turning it into mud. The coal production process is hampered because the coal to be mined is submerged by water and mud. This study aims to examine the factors that hinder the sludge removal process and their effect on coal production. The observed data are cycle time data of diggers and hauling equipment as well as work efficiency. In the mud transfer process at PT Kideco Jaya Agung, two types of digging equipment are used, namely the Komatsu PC1250SP-8 Excavator and the HY85/160 PC400 Dragflow pump. The methodology used is to calculate and compare the productivity of each digging and hauling equipment. Based on the calculation results, the amount of mud removal in October 2022 was 9,755 m3 for the PC1250 fleet and 82,101 m3 for the Dragflow fleet, while the mud removal target was 140,000 m3 or only 65% of the target. The parameter that causes the amount of mud removal not to be achieved is the lack of work efficiency, which is 25% for the PC1250 fleet and 77% for the Dragflow fleet. Efforts are made to increase work efficiency by maximizing the number of working days and minimizing obstacles that can be avoided. The amount of mud removal after carrying out a simulation of improving work efficiency in October 2022 is 61,507 m3/month on the PC1250 fleet and 86,718 m3/month on the Dragflow fleet so that the total production is 148,225 m3/month.
