RANCANG BANGUN MESIN PERAJANG HIJAUAN PAKAN TERNAK
This study aims to design the construction of a forage chopper machine to facilitate the process of chopping plants and forage plants as animal feed. This research was carried out from October 2021 to March 2022 at the Mechanical Laboratory, Soil and Water Engineering, Department of Agricultural Technology, Sriwijaya Indralaya University. The research was carried out using the engineering design method by presenting data using tables, pictures and graphs. This research was conducted in three stages, namely designing, manufacturing and assembling tools, and testing the machine. This study conducted experiments with one repetition of four types of materials, namely water hyacinth, bengal grass, elephant grass, and corn plants to determine the success of shredding and to compare the chopped results of the four types of materials. The parameters of this study are the working capacity of the machine, the percentage of chopped results of the four types of materials, and the efficiency of the machine for the four types of materials. The results of this study indicate that the highest value for the effective working capacity of the machine is in corn plants with a value of 117.13 kg/hour, the lowest value is in Bengal grass 69.66 kg/hour. The highest enumeration yield value was in corn plants at 96.67%, the lowest value was in Bengal grass at 94.67%.
