PERILAKU PETANI KELAPA SAWIT TERHADAP PENGGUNAAN ALAT PELINDUNG DIRI DALAM PENYEMPROTAN PESTISIDA DI PT.PINAGO UTAMA
This study explores the relationship between the use of PPE and factors such as habits, attitudes, and knowledge of respondents. Based on the survey results, 32 respondents (74.4%) did not have the habit of using PPE, while 11 respondents (25.6%) said they used PPE. In addition, 18 people (75%) with a negative attitude showed poor use of PPE, while 14 people (73.5%) with a positive attitude still had inadequate PPE habits. Regarding knowledge, 29 respondents (76.3%) with Lack of knowledge indicated inappropriate use of PPE, while 3 respondents (60%) with good knowledge still demonstrated inadequate PPE habits. Statistical analysis revealed that there was no significant relationship between knowledge and use of PPE, as well as between attitude and use of PPE. These findings indicated that there was a significant proportion of farmers who inconsistently used PPE during pesticide spraying activities. The study suggests the need for interventions to promote better PPE practices, regardless of the respondent's knowledge or attitude. Strategies should focus on addressing the underlying barriers to PPE use and promoting a culture of occupational safety and health.
