ANALISIS RISIKO KESEHATAN LINGKUNGAN PAPARAN AMONIA (NH3) PADA PEKERJA DI PT SUNAN RUBBER PALEMBANG
Stages of the processing crumb rubber causes a pungent odor due to ammonia gas formed naturally by microorganisms and the addition of ammonia as a coagulant. Ammonia can cause health problems such as respiratory distress and eye irritation to worker in rubber factory. This study aimed to analyze the magnitude of the risk of exposure to ammonia (NH3) on workers at PT Sunan Rubber Palembang. This type of research is quantitative research with the Environmental Health Risk Analysis method. Samples of respondents taken by purposive sampling were obtained by 65 respondents as worker at raw material warehouse area, wet process area, dry blanket washing area and drying room area. Air samples were taken at 4 points of the work area and air samples were analyzed using the indophenol method with a spectrophotometer. The results showed that the ammonia concentration did not exceed the quality standard with a value of 0.027 mg/m3 and RQ realtime obtained of 0.00170. The conclusion of this study is that workers at PT Sunan Rubber do not have non-carcinogenic health problems due to exposure to ammonia (NH3) around the work area because the value of RQ < 1. As a preventive measure the company should monitor the scrubber machine as an air chimney so that the air quality around the work area does not decrease due to increased ammonia gas which endanger workers.
