Appropriate nutrients are needed by children to support optimal growth and development. Household food insecurity and lack of child dietary diversity could contribute to increasing the risk of stunting. Stunting prevalence in Palembang has exceeded the threshold of 33 %. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between household food security and child dietary diversity with stunting incidence among children aged 24-59 months in Seberang Ulu 1 District, Palembang. A secondary research which involves existing data from SATEKS 2021 with cross-sectional study design was conducted. A total of 60 children aged 24-59 months were selected by purposive sampling. The data were analyzed by chi-squared test and simple logistic regression. The results showed that there were 23 children (38.3 %) who were stunted. A total of 21 households (35.0 %) were categorized as food insecure and 33 children (55.0 %) did not eat a variety of foods. Meanwhile most of children whose intakes varied (46.4 %) consumed the food groups of grains, roots, and tubers. No significant relationship was found between household food security (p-value > 0.05) and child dietary diversity (p-value = 0.539) with stunting incidence. Meanwhile, the age of the children was significantly related to the stunting incidence (p-value = 0.025). District agencies are expected to provide community empowerment programs such as fish and vegetable cultivation with aquaponics techniques in buckets (Budikdamber) which not only can be consumed personally but also can be sold to increase household income especially duting the COVID-19 pandemic.
