ANALISIS PENGELOLAAN LIMBAH MEDIS PADAT DI PUSKESMAS TALANG RATU KOTA PALEMBANG
Public Health Center solid medical waste, such as infectious waste, sharps waste, pathological waste, and so on, is classified as hazardous and toxic waste (B3) which can cause environmental pollution and also have an impact on human health if not managed properly. Management of solid medical waste must be carried out optimally in order to minimize pollution to the environment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the management of solid medical waste at the Talang Ratu Public Health Center. This research was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods and the number of research informants was 8 people. Data collection was carried out by means of in-depth interviews and direct observation. Data validation was carried out by means of triangulation of methods and sources. The results showed that the sources of waste came from the MCH room, pharmacy, laboratory and dental clinic. Aspects of waste management are carried out by officers by identifying waste (categorizing the type of waste), minimizing waste (using the reuse and reduce method), separating waste (garbage boxes lined with yellow bags (infectious) and black bags (non-infectious)), waste collection, waste container, and waste transportation which is done manually without wheel bins and special lanes. Waste is transported to a temporary shelter beside the Health Center and there is no ventilation and temperature gauges in the temporary shelter. Solid medical waste processing is carried out by a third party every 2 weeks to once a month. It can be concluded that the process of managing solid medical waste at the Talang Ratu Health Center is quite good, however there are several things that must be completed to maximize the waste management process. Suggestions for the Puskesmas to maximize the management process by providing push trolleys for the transportation process, temperature control devices for temporary storage to avoid the development of microbial pathogens and not allowing waste to stay in temporary storage areas for too long. Keyword : Medical waste management, medical waste, solid waste
