RESPON FISIOLOGIS KAMBING PERANAKAN ETAWA TERHADAP CEKAMAN PANAS
This research has been running for 16 weeks, with 3 weeks as an adjustment period and 13 weeks as sampling and measurement. Sampling was carried out between 13:30 and 15:00. In this study, six female Peranakan Etawah (PE) goats aged 6–7 months were used. The size of the cage is 75 by 100 cm. The feed consisted of dry Bengal grass (Megathyrsus maximus) and concentrate consisting of corn (55%), compra (25%), fish meal (15%), molasses (3%), mineral premix (1%), and salt (1%). The tools used in this research are Omron thermometer and Beauregard thermometer. This study aimed to determine the body temperature and respiratory rate in PE goats. This study was conducted to compare the thermoregulatory response of PE goats in normal temperature and hot temperature cage using two treatments and six repetitions conducted once a week. Statistical analysis was performed by comparing rectal temperature, rectal surface temperature, abdominal skin temperature, inner thigh temperature, nasal temperature, and respiratory rate using the T test. The results showed that rectal, rectal surface, skin, inner thigh, and nasal temperatures, and respiratory rate per minute (P>0.05) were not different between the normal and hot environment. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the increase of the ambient temperature could be tolerate by PE goats
