HUBUNGAN KARAKTERISTIK INDIVIDU DAN SANITASI LINGKUNGAN DENGAN GEJALA DERMATITIS KONTAK PADA PEKERJA INDUSTRI TAHU DI BUKIT SANGKAL PALEMBANG
In the process of making tofu using soybean raw materials and vinegar acid which functions to precipitate tofu protein so that tofu lumps are formed. Workers in the screening department are more at risk for experiencing symptoms of contact dermatitis because they are in direct contact with the acidic coagulating solution and are supported by exposure to hot enough water when mixing the solution. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of individual characteristics and environmental sanitation with symptoms of contact dermatitis in tofu industry workers in Bukit Sangkal. This research is a quantitative research with Cross Sectional study design with a sampling technique that is purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study collected 55 respondents taken with inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data analysis conducted are univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using SPSS in the chi-square test. The results of data analysis showed a relationship between personal hygiene (p-value= 0.000) and contact duration (p-value=0.000) with symptoms of contact dermatitis. While the variables type of work (p-value= 0.968), water source (p-value= 0.317), liquid wastewater (p-value= 0.470) and floor condition (p-value= 0.346) did not show any relationship with contact dermatitis symptoms in workers. In conclusion, the variables contact duration and personal hygiene have a relationship with symptoms of contact dermatitis in tofu industry workers in Bukit Sangkal Palembang. Suggestions to tofu industry workers in Bukit Sangkal to implement better personal hygiene and maintain environmental cleanliness regularly and periodically
