The use of IUD contraception is quite low in many countries. According to WHO data, the use of non Long Term Contraceptive Methods has increased more than the use of Long Term Contraceptive Methods worldwide from 1990 (54%) to (57,4%). The target for IUD use in Indonesia in 2017 has a target of 34,6% and only covers 12%. The prevalence of IUD contraceptive use in 2021 in Indonesia is only 7,99%. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between husband's support and the use of IUD contraception in couples of childbearing age. This study uses a case control design. The sample in this study were couples of childbearing age in the Muarabulian sub-district who were selected based on the simple random sampling method. There are seven variables related to the use of IUD contraception, namely husband support (p-value=0,000), knowledge (pvalue=0,001), education (p-value=0,000), attitude (p-value=0,000), ideal number of children (p-value=0,009), economic status (p-value=0,000) and sources of information (pvalue=0,000). There are two variables that are not related to the use of IUD contraception, namely perception of side effects (p-value=0,334) and cultural customs/beliefs (pvalue=1,000). Mothers who get husband's support are pressured 8,2 times more to use IUDs than mothers who do not get husband's support where the variables of knowledge, education, attitude, economic status and sources of information are confounding relationships between husband's support and IUD contraceptive use. It is expected to increase husband’s knowledge about IUD’s and support husband’s in the form of accompanying family planning counseling, participating in deciding on choosing family planning so as to increase IUD users.
