The Palembang is one of the most floodful cities,the problems of the Palembang are serious enough for the government,there is a considerable amount of marshes and also the musi river,which if the rainly season comes the musi river will overflow.Other factors include slopes,elevation,soil,types,land use,and river density. In the study the method used is the suspend method,in which any parameters will be conducted by scoring weight with the value required for the classification,and then overlay every parameters,for the makes use of a geographic information system (GIS) that can explain and present volatile objects in a digital form. The resulting result is a map of flood risk,where there are three categories of flood loss in the city of Palembang,where the first regions are not prone with an area of 869,51 Ha at 3% percentage,the area is fairly susceptible to an area of 15.678,89 Ha at a 57% percentage and the last hit is very vulnerable to area 10.964,64 Ha at a 40% percentage,based on flood prone areas results using point in the history of flood events acquired at BPBD (regional disaster management agency),which is 40% of the area is quite vulnerable and 60% of the area is vulnerable.
