Optimization the location of the temporary waste disposal site (TWDS) is an effort to reduce excessive landfilling in Alang – Alang Lebar District, Palembang City. This study determined the optimal TWDS in Alang – Alang Lebar District by formulating the Set Covering Problem (SCP) model which includes SCLP, MCLP, and p – Median Problem. Completion of the SCP model used the help of the LINGO 13.0 and GAMS applications and compared the optimal results of the LINGO 13.0 application and the GAMS application. The data used in this study is data on the distance between TWDS scattered in each village. Alang – Alang Lebar District has 25 TWDS spread across 4 urban villages. Based on the formulation of the SCP model using the help of the LINGO 13.0 application and GAMS application, there is no difference in the results of the optimal TWDS location in Alang – Alang Lebar District. 4 TWDS location were obtained that could meet their respective demand points in each village, including TWDS Jl. Museum Bala Putera Dewa, TWDS Jl. Kolonel Sulaiman Amin (Talang Buruk), TWDS SMAN 22 Palembang, and TWDS Pasar KM 12. Keywords : Set Covering Problem, LINGO 13.0, GAMS, Location Optimization
