ABSORPSI LOGAM BERAT Zn DAN Cr MENGGUNAKAN PURUN DANAU (Lepironia articulata Retz. Domin.) PADA AIR ASAM TAMBANG BATUBARA PT BUKIT ASAM Tbk
Open-pit coal mining will encourage the oxidation of sulfide minerals, releasing sulfuric acid, which will drastically lower the pH. This occurrence is known as acid mine drainage. Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) has a low pH value and can easily dissolve heavy metals in water, such as Zn and Cr. Control of acid mine drainage needs to be done either during or after the mining process ends. Acid mine drainage has several negative impacts, such as causing the loss of species, decreasing air quality, and disrupting the life of the biota in the waters. One effort to overcome this is to use the phytoremediation method. Phytoremediation is a method for fixing certain substances or contaminants in soil, sediment, surface air, and airborne waste by using plants. This study aims to provide information and determine the potential of purun danau (Lepironia articulata Retz. Domin) in absorbing the heavy metals Zn and Cr in AAT phytoremediation. The research analysis used was in the form of quantitative descriptive analysis with environmental parameters is Zn and Cr content in acid mine drainage, which would be compared with the quality standard values and Zn and Cr content in the root organs and purun danau canopy. The research methods for measurement of heavy metals Zn and Cr using a flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS-flame). Meanwhile, the results of the 30-day study showed that L. articulata could reduce the levels of the heavy metal Zn in AAT from 0,3 mg/L to 0,05 mg/L and the heavy metal Cr in acid mine drainage from 0.5 mg/L to
