STATUS MUTU LINGKUNGAN PERAIRAN MUARA SUNGAI MUSI, SUMATERA SELATAN
Pollution in the waters is often the subject of environmental problems in people’s lives. A guideline for determining the status of water quality is needed in order to determine the level of pollution using the water quality index in the waters. This study aims to analyze the concentration of nutrients (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate) and organic matter (BOD, COD) in the Musi River Estuary area and determine pollution status using the IP, STORET and CCME WQI methods referring to the Decree of the Minister of Environment No. 51 of 2004. Water samples were taken directly on the surface Musi River Estuary at low tide were 4 stations. Analysis of nutrient and organic matter concentrations was carried out at the Department of Environment and Defense of South Sumatra. The results showed that the average concentrations of nutrients and organic matter in the Musi River Estuary ranged from 0.016-0.053 mg/L ammonia, 0.021-0.058 mg/L nitrite, 0.089-0.128 mg/L nitrate, 0.004-0.009 mg/L phosphate, 1.27-2.14 mg/L BOD, 7.99-8.83 mg/L COD. The level of pollution in the water of the Musi River Estuary using the IP, STORET and CCME WQI methods is indicated to be moderately polluted.
