KEANEKARAGAMAN PLANKTON DI SUNGAI PADANG KABUPATEN BANYUASIN SUMATERA SELATAN
Padang River is a river located in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province. Most of the activities of the residents around the Padang river flow are in the form of utilizing river water for household activities, agriculture, fishing, industry, transportation and even being one of the routes taken by local residents to carry out various human activities. Various kinds of river utilization activities can cause negative impacts such as decreasing water quality which will affect river biota. One effort that can be made to monitor river water quality is to use biological indicators such as plankton. The purpose of this study was to analyze the diversity of plankton in the Padang River, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. The research method used is purposive sampling method. Plankton samples were preserved in 4% formalin and then identified using a reference book then counted and analyzed. The results of the study found that there were 31 plankton genera in the Padang River consisting of 27 phytoplankton genera and 4 zooplankton genera. The value of diversity index (H') was obtained between 2.47-2.86. The value of Evenness index (E) range from 0.93-0.96. The value of dominance index (C) was obtained between 0.07-0.09. The similarity index values between stations were found to range from 50% -68.29%. Research on plankton diversity in the Padang River should be carried out routinely at different time periods so that the results obtained are more accurate.
