UJI TOKSISITAS SUBKRONIS FRAKSI N-HEKSAN DAUN UBI JALAR UNGU (Ipomoea batatas L.) TERHADAP TIKUS PUTIH JANTAN GALUR WISTAR
Purple sweet potato leaves (Ipomoea batatas L.) is one of the traditional medicinal plants that needs to know the safety level of its use, one of which is by subchronic toxicity test. This study was conducted to determine the toxic effects of the n-hexane fraction of I. batatas leaves on wistar male white rats. Parameters observed included body weight, hematological examination, blood biochemistry, macroscopic observation and histopathology of liver and kidney organs of rats. This study was divided into 4 groups normal control group (Na CMC 0.5%), 140 mg/KgBB dose, 280 mg/KgBB dose, and 560 mg/KgBB dose. The treatment was carried out for 28 days and 14 days for observation of delayed effects on rats. The results showed that the administration of the n-hexane fraction of I. batatas leaves had an effect on changes in rat weight during the 28-day treatment (P < 0.05). The average blood hematological parameters of the 560 mg/KgBB dose treatment group were hemoglobin 14.83 ± 0.20 g/dL, erythrocytes 8.78 ± 0.18 106/mm3, and leukocytes 19.38 ± 6.62 103/mm3. The average blood biochemical parameters of the 560 mg/KgBB treatment group SGOT 206.93 ± 43.90 U/L, SGPT 93.37 ± 17.13 U/L, creatinine 0.49 ± 0.02 mg/dL, and ureum 41.65 ± 1.88 mg/dL. The n-hexane fraction of I. batatas leaves affects liver and kidney function macroscopically and histopathologically. Giving the n-hexane fraction of I. batatas leaves does not cause toxic effects on rats, the higher the dose of n-hexane fraction of I. batatas leaves, the less toxic effects
