STRUKTUR KOMUNITAS DAN TUTUPAN KANOPI MANGROVE DI PULAU MASPARI, KABUPATEN OGAN KOMERING ILIR, SUMATERA SELATAN
Mangrove existence is essential, especially for the coastal area on the isle. A healthy mangrove community can reduce abrasion and keep the sedimentation process around the coastal zone. An isle in South Sumatra has mangrove vegetation which needs more information. That island is Maspari which is included in the administrative area of Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. This research was held on February 2023 to analyze community structure, the importance value index, and the percentage of canopy cover mangrove vegetation on Maspari. The method used in this study was community structure analysis on a plot 10 x 10 meter and hemispherical photography analysis for canopy cover. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that mangroves on Maspari consist of 4 families and 6 species, namely Avicenniaceae (Avicennia marina), Rhizophoraceae (Bruguiera parviflora, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora stylosa), Sonneratiaceae (Sonneratia alba) and Euphorbiaceae (Excoecaria agallocha). The most significant value index came from R. stylosa at the tree, sapling, and seedling levels on most of all observation stations. This indicates that this type of mangrove plays a significant role in the mangrove ecosystem on Maspari. The average tree density on Maspari Island is 1739 ind/ha, with an average canopy cover percentage of 62.25%. On Maspari, the mangrove density is high but the percentage of canopy cover is moderate. This is due to natural thinning on mangrove vegetation which causes the spacing.
