KOMBINASI CONTRAST STRETCHING DAN MEDIAN FILTER UNTUK PERBAIKAN KUALITAS CITRA SEL NUKLEUS PAP SMEAR DENGAN SEGMENTASI OTSU THRESHOLDING
COMBINATION OF CONTRAST STRETCHING AND MEDIAN FILTER FOR IMAGE QUALITY IMPROVEMENT OF PAP SMEAR CELLS WITH OTSU THRESHOLDING SEGMENTATION By : Wahyu Tananda 08011381823066 ABSTRACT Pap smear is one of the method for early detection of cervical cancer. The pap smear image in this study comes from the Zenodo dataset which consists of nuclear and plasma cells. Early detection of nuclear cell abnormalities can prevent cervical cancer. One of the method is by performing a segmentation process to distinguish the nucleus and non-nucleus in the image. This study aims to improve the quality of the pap smear image and separate the nuclear cell image from the image background so that it can be easily processed further. The pap smear image quality was performed using a combination of contrast stretching and median filters which resulted in MSE, PSNR, and SSIM of 2.47, 44.27, and 0.95, respectively. The segmentation process using the Otsu thresholding method after which the opening morphology process was carried out resulted in an accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of 98.08%, 98.48%, and 97.17%, respectively. Based on these results, it can be seen that the combination of contrast stretching and median filter is good in improving the quality of the original image. The results obtained by using Otsu thresholding in detecting nuclear cell features and detecting the background of the given image are very good.
