ANALISIS KEPADATAN BAKTERI PENGURAI AMONIA PADA SEDIMEN DI PERAIRAN MUARA SUNGAI MUSI, SUMATERA SELATAN
The estuary of the Musi River is strongly influenced by various activities on land such as the amount of waste from industry, one of which is ammonia pollution. The presence of ammonia in an ecosystem can affect microbes, especially bacteria that have the abilty to degrade ammonia. This study aims to determine the density of ammonia oxidizing bacteria in the sediment at the mouth of the Musi River and determine the relationship of the physical-chemical parameters of the waters to the ammonia oxidizing bacteria. The results of this study showed that the density of AOB in sediments ranged from 0,79 x 104 - 110 x 104 cells/gram, where stations 2, 3 and 4 had the highest values in the village of breech II, Musi River Estuary and Tanjung Carat. This is also in line with the amount of ammonia values obtained at stations 2, 3 and 4 which ranged from 0,865 to 1,19 mg/L. Station 1 has the lowest density value which is in the south of Payung Island. The high value of AOB density in sediments is due to the equally high concentration of ammonia. Physico-chemical parameters of the waters that affect the value of AOB density in the Musi River Estuary sediment ammonia concentration.
