This study discusses the linkage of legal and institutional developments as well as financial openness to the degree of the cryptocurrency development market. The increasingly rapid development of cryptocurrencies is triggering the pros and cons in developing countries in determining the right regulation. The study combines two scientific studies namely law and economics by examining cryptocurrency regulation as well as de jure financial openness and other macroeconomic variables in developing countries. The Data used in this study are panel data consisting of 30 developing countries and time series data from 2010-2019. The analysis technique used is the Ordered Probit Model. The results of the study suggest the more open the de jure financial system will increase more the chances of cryptocurrency regulation to be regulated and liberated. The increasing effectiveness of the government will increase the chances of cryptocurrency regulation to be released. The results imply that countries with a high level of financial openness will be increasingly developed and open in accepting new financial systems and a certain level of institutional quality is required before accepting new forms of financial systems such as cryptocurrencies. In conclusion, there is a link between legal and institutional developments and financial openness to the degree of development of the cryptocurrency market. Therefore, it is hoped that proper regulation from the government will create security in the use of cryptocurrencies because the future of cryptocurrencies depends on the regulations taken and introduced, the resulting price stability and recognition of the cryptocurrency itself
