This study to determine and analyze the effect of palm oil commodity competitiveness and to the potential of the agricultural sector in South Sumatra Province. The data used is secondary data obtained from the publications of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesian Plantation Statistics, and other sources. From the results of data analysis shows that on average the RCA value of South Sumatra oil palm commodities shows a very adequate value of 7.994873587 greater than 1. This indicates that the level of competitiveness of South Sumatran oil palm commodities based on the RCA method is very adequate. On average, the LQ value of the agricultural sector of South Sumatra during the observation period was 0.568936044, smaller than 1, belonging to the non basic sector. The results of the study indicate that there is a one-way relationship, the agricultural sector of South Sumatra affects the competitiveness of oil palm commodities.
