This research is motivated by the phenomenon of differences in output and input to the contribution of the economy between provinces in Indonesia, where the largest contribution is on the island of Java which is the main contributor to the economy, because it has a dense population and almost 60 percent of economic activities are on the island of Java. but the island of Java itself uses the most output from the island of Sumatra. The purpose of this study is to examine the inter-sectoral linkages, leading sectors and economic structure using forward linkage and backward linkage analysis based on the Indonesian Interregional Input - Output Table of Domestic Transactions on the Basis of Producer Prices by 34 Provinces and 17 Business Fields in 2016 published in 2021. The research conducted belongs to the Economic and Social Humanities family. The results of this study indicate that the economic performance in Sumatra is dominated by the tertiary and secondary sectors, then the sector that most often becomes the leading sector is the electricity and gas procurement sector and the manufacturing sector.
