GREEN SYNTHESIS NANOMAGNETIK NiFe2O4 MENGGUNAKAN EKSTRAK DAUN KELOR (MORINGA OLEIFERA L.) SEBAGAI CAPPING AGENT UNTUK DEGRADASI FOTOKATALITIK ZAT WARNA CONGO RED
Textile industry dye waste requires treatment in order to become safe and harmless waste for the environment. Congo red is one of the commonly used synthetic dyes which is difficult to degrade naturally so that waste treatment is carried out using the photodegradation method with nanomagnetic photocatalyst materials. Nanomagnetic NiFe2O4 was synthesized by green synthesis method using Moringa leaf extract as capping agent. Moringa leaf extract used is positive for flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids and phenolic acids. The success of this synthesis is seen by the results of characterization using XRD, SEM-EDX, VSM, UV-Vis DRS and FTIR. The crystal size of NiFe2O4 is 32.25 nm with a large slab morphology composed of elements such as Ni, Fe, O and C. The saturation magnetization value is 46.80 emu/g and has a band gap energy of 1.34 eV. The FTIR spectrum of NiFe2O4 contained C=C, C-O and O-H functional groups indicating the presence of protective agents from moringa leaf extract as well as Ni-O and Fe-O ferrite spinel groups. The pHpzc value of nanomagnetic NiFe2O4 is at pH 6.9. The best condition of photocatalytic degradation of congo red dye occurs at pH 3, concentration of 100 mg/L and irradiation time for 90 minutes with the effectiveness of concentration reduction of 99.05% and degradation rate of 0.0421 min-1. The TOC test results obtained the effectiveness of reducing the amount of carbon by 85.09%. The results showed that NiFe2O4 with green synthesis method was able to increase the effectiveness in degrading congo red dye.
