SKIRINING SENYAWA ANTIOKSIDAN DARI FRAKSI ETIL ASETAT DAUN TUMBUHAN SUNGKAI (Peronema canescens Jack.)
Sungkai belongs to the Lamiaceae famili with the latin name Peronema canescens Jack. Sungkai leaves have traditionally been used as a medicine to increase the body’s immune system. Its efficacy as an immune system drug is related to the presence of antioxidant. The aims of this research to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethyl acetate fraction of sungkai leaves (P. canescens Jack.) and identify antioxidant compounds in the fraction that shows the highest antioxidant activity. The research was begun with exraction used a solvent of increasing polarity (n-hexane and ethyl acetate). Separation and purification by the chromatography method and antioxidant test using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl). Identification of insulating compound using gas chromatography (GC-MS). Separation of ethyl acetate extract obtained five fractions and F.1 has the highest antioxidant activity (IC50 142.29 mg/L). Fraction F.1 further separated and obtained five subfractions that have weak or inactive antioxidant activity (IC50 1000 mg/L). The sungkai leaves (P. canascens Jack.) have more active antioxidant activity in the form of mixed compounds in the form of fractions compared to simpler compounds in the form subfractions. Subfraction F1.2 has a small amount so it is not tested for antioxidant activity. Characterization using GC-MS on subfraction F1.2 which has the simplest stain separation pattern showed results that were not identified as containing phenolic or flavonoid compunds that act as antioxidants.
