FOTOKATALITIK DEGRADASI ZAT WARNA PROCION RED MENGGUNAKAN KOMPOSIT Fe3O4/KITOSAN GLUTARALDEHID/SnO
Procion red is a dye widely used in the textile industry. Procion red dye waste that is released into the environment can be toxic to living things. Therefore, it is necessary to treat dye waste using an effective photocatalytic method so that it can produce waste that is not harmful to the environment. In this research, photocatalytic degradation of procion red dyes using Fe3O4/chitosan-glutaraldehyde/SnO2 composite. The composite were characterized using XRD, SEM-EDS, VSM and UV-VIS DRS. The results of the characterization using the XRD tool showed the highest intensity at 2θ = 26.63° with a particle size of 9.35 nm. The characterization using the SEM-EDS showed a homogeneous morphology with constituent elements consisting of C (14.32%), N (0.14%), O (42.63%), Fe (37.21%) and Sn (3.85%). The VSM characterization showed a saturation magnetization value of 56.74 emu/g and a band gap value of composite from the UV-VIS DRS characterization of 1.82 eV. The optimum conditions for the reduced concentration of procion red dye by the Fe3O4/chitosan-glutaraldehyde/SnO2 composite were at pH 3 with a concentration of 60 mg/L and Vis irradiation for 40 minutes resulting in an effective concentration reduction of 99.14%. TOC analysis showed that the procion red dye before degradation contained 11.184 ppm of carbon and after degradation the carbon contained only 6.795 ppm .
