SIFAT FISIK DAN MEKANIK BATAKO DENGAN PEMANFAATAN LIMBAH PABRIK KERTAS
Development progress proclaimed by humans increases every year. The high rate of construction in Indonesia has led to a high demand for building follow-up materials such as bricks. Bricks are composed of sand, cement and water. The excessive use of cement can increase carbon emissions into the environment and the excessive use of sand can result in many sand excavation activities that narrow the land area. In a step to minimize the use of cement and sand, a research was carried out on making bricks made from the remaining waste from the PT Oki Pulp and Paper factory. The type of waste used is fly ash as a substitute for cement and lime mud as a substitute for fine aggregate. This study was to determine the physical and mechanical properties of bricks made from fly ash and lime mud. The brick bricks were tested for appearance, size, water absorption, and compressive strength of the bricks. Mortar was made with the planned composition of the mixture to determine the maximum compressive strength value and obtained mortar sample E with an average compressive strength value of 2,43 MPa. The test object made was hollow brick with a size of 36 x 8 x 15 cm with a mixture of mortar sample composition E. Based on the visible test, it showed the physical appearance of the brick in ideal conditions, the size test obtained did not exceed 3,2 mm, the absorption test obtained 27,13%, and the compressive strength test obtained an average value of 2,25 MPa
