The presence of liquid waste dye derived from methylene blue can be removed or reduced by using the adsorption process. The source of CaO comes from quail egg shells synthesized using the acid-base preparation method. The addition of SDS to open pores and increase pore structure. The results obtained were characterized using XRD, BET, and FTIR. CaO and modified CaO compounds are used as adsorbents in adsorbing methylene blue by varying the contact time, concentration, and temperature. The results of XRD characterization in CaO-modified compounds appear diffraction patterns at an angle of 2θ = 37.37, 53.89, 32.22, 64.24, and 62.62, and in CaO compounds there are diffraction patterns at an angle of 2θ=32.24, 37.40, 62.65, 64.24. the mean crystal size of the modified CaO and CaO compounds was 33.52 and 29.81 respectively. The results of BET characterization showed that the surface area of modified CaO compounds was 2.52869 m2/g and CaO compounds were 3.94667 m2 / g. FTIR characterization of modified CaO compounds before adsorption showed the presence of O-H, O-C-O, and C=O groups, and after adsorption showed the bonds of C-N and C=N functional groups derived from methylene blue dye. The results of pHpzc analysis on CaO and CaO modification compounds showed results at pH points of 11.62 and 11.82, respectively. The optimum condition of the modified CaO compound as an adsorbent in adsorbing methylene blue dye at a contact time of 70 minutes, methylene blue concentration of 250 mg/L, and a temperature of 70OC adsorption capacity of 74.17 mg/g were obtained. Cao compounds adsorb methylene blue at the time of contact 90OC, methylene blue solution concentration of 150 mg/L, and a temperature of 80OC adsorption capacity of 44.63 mg/g was obtained. Adsorption Kinetics in CaO and CaO modification occurs in pseudo second order with R2 values of 0.9787 and 0.9956, respectively. Adsorption isotherm methylene blue dye with adsorbent CaO and CaO modification occurred in the Langmuir isotherm model with R2 values of 0.9828 and 0.8311 respectively with Qm values of 44.44 mg/g and 56.818 mg / g. The adsorption process on methylene blue dye to CaO compounds obtained a ∆Ho value of 80.154 kJ/mol and ∆Go is successively negative. The results of adsorption using adsorbent CaO modification obtained a value of ∆Ho of 51.805 kJ / mol with a value of ∆Go consecutive negative values. So that the adsorption process that occurs in both adsorbents takes place endothermically and occurs spontaneously.
