GREEN SYNTHESIS NANOMAGNETIK Fe3O4 MENGGUNAKAN EKSTRAK DAUN KELOR (Moringa oleifera) SEBAGAI CAPPING AGENT DAN APLIKASINYA PADA FOTODEGRADASI ZAT WARNA CONGO RED
Congo red is one of the dyes that is often used in the textile industry. However, congo red can cause environmental problems. Fe3O4 is a metal oxides that is magnetic and can be used as a catalyst. Fe3O4 can be synthesized with various methods. But, usually the method that is being used requires a chemical materials as a capping agent and can emits gas poison in the process. Alternative method which can be used in the synthesis of Fe3O4 is green synthesis method. This research aims to synthesizing Fe3O4 and applying it to the photodegradation of congo red. Fe3O4 was synthesized by the addition of extract Moringa leaf as capping agent. Fe3O4 nanomagnetics were prepared by green synthesis using coprecipitation. Fe3O4 were characterized using XRD, SEM-EDX, VSM, UV-Vis DRS, and FTIR. Determination of the best conditions was carried out using variable of pH, dye concentration, and radiation time. The result of XRD characterization showed the diffractogram pattern of Fe3O4 is similar to standar diffractogram pattern according to JCPDS PDF No. 19-0629 with crystallite size in 22.71 nm. The result of SEM-EDX characterization showed rough surface with constituent elemen Fe, O, dan C. The result of VSM characterization showed the magnetization saturation of the Fe3O4 is 79.91 emu/g. The result of UV-Vis DRS characterization showed the band gap value of the Fe3O4 nanomagnetics is 1.38 eV. The result of FTIR characterization showed functional group of OH, C=C, C-O, C-O vibration, and Fe-O. pHpzc value of Fe3O4 nanomagnetic was obtained at pH 5.6. The effectiveness value based on degradation at pH 3, concentration of 50 mg/L, and radiation time of 30 minutes was 95.88%. The result of TOC analyze showed that the removal efficiency of carbons was obtained at 68.75%. Based on the results obtained it can be conluded that Fe3O4 nanomagnetics were successfully synthesized and were able to degrade congo red.
