ANALISIS PENINGKATAN KUALITAS PASIR BESI UNTUK MEMENUHI KEBUTUHAN INDUSTRI SEMEN MENGGUNAKAN JIG TIPE PAN AMERICAN JIG DALAM SKALA LABORATORIUM
Iron sand is one of the minerals from the iron ore group which contains various kinds of minerals, one of which is the mineral hematite (Fe2O3) which is a mineral material that can be used in the cement manufacturing industry. In the cement manufacturing industry, the Fe2O3 content in the iron sand used must comply with the cement manufacturing standard, which is 76.21%. In general, iron sand resulting from mining activities has Fe2O3 levels that do not meet the standards in the cement industry, so there needs to be a processing process for iron sands in order to increase Fe2O3 levels so that they reach the desired standard in the cement manufacturing industry. processing using a pan american jig, this study aims to analyze the level of Fe2O3 before processing the iron sand feed, analyze the factors that influence the quality of iron sand, and analyze the iron sand content after going through the processing. This research was conducted on a laboratory scale by conducting direct experiments using a pan american jig by focusing on several variations of operating variables such as processing time, bed thickness and frequency of jig blows. The processing time used is 6 minutes, 11 minutes and 16 minutes. The thickness of the bed used is 7 mm, 12 mm and 17 mm. The frequency of the jig strokes used are 100 Hz, 150 Hz and 200 Hz. Based on the research conducted, there were 11 experiments that had Fe2O3 levels in iron sand which had increased levels of 76.21% so that it could meet the cement manufacturing industry standards. The highest levels of Fe2O3 in this study were found in studies with variations in processing time of 11 minutes, bed thickness of 12 mm and frequency of blows of 200 Hz, namely with Fe2O3 concentrate levels of 77.66% and recovery value of 86.75%.
