KEHIDUPAN SOSIAL BUDAYA MASYARAKAT YANG BERMUKIM DI BANTARAN REL KERETA API KELURAHAN MUARA ENIM KABUPATEN MUARA ENIM PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
The title of this final thesis is “Socio-Cultural Life of Communities Living on the Railroad Banks of Muara Enim Village,Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra Province”. The research explores the illegal settlements along railroad tracks, where people have chosen to live for regenerations despite the lack of proper habitation. The study aims to understand the reasons behind this choice, and the social interactions, socio-cultural values, and social cohesion that the community has established. The methodology used is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach, and data wa collected through observation, deep interviews with 14 informants, documentation and literature review. The result suggest that people choose to live on the banks of the railroad tracks primarily for personal reasons and cumpultion. Over time, the community has developed a comfortable environment marked by strong social interactions, cooperation, familiarity, and accomodation. The community has also successfully established socio-cultural values such as mutual cooperation, mutual help, tolerance, and the “Masak Besamo” tradition. This has led to the formation and maintenance of social cohesion in the form of kinship and harmony. Keywords: Socio-cultural Life, Settlement Railroad Banks
