AKTIVITAS ANTIINFLAMASI TRANSDERMAL PATCH EKSTRAK DAUN MELINJO (Gnetum gnemon L.) TERHADAP TIKUS PUTIH GALUR WISTAR DENGAN VARIASI PROPILENGLIKOL SEBAGAI PLASTICIZER
Inflammation can cause an uncomfortable response due to pain. Plants that can be used as anti-inflammatory come from melinjo leaf at dose of 563 mg/kg BB. Delivering the active substance is carried out as a transdermal patch. The use of plasticizers can improve the mechanical properties of patch preparations. This study aims to obtain the best formula for transdermal patch preparations for anti-inflammatory effects. Transdermal patches of ethanol extract from melinjo leaves were formulated with various concentrations of propylene glycol as a plasticizer of 20%, 25% and 30%. The best formula results obtained a propylene glycol concentration of 30%; then anti-inflammatory tests were performed on rats with four treatment groups. Consists of negative control, positive control, transdermal treatment group melinjo leaf extract patch, and treatment group melinjo leaf ethanol extract orally. Observation of the activity test of the preparation was carried out by measuring the volume of rat foot oedema every 1 hour for 6 hours. The results of testing the transdermal anti-inflammatory activity of melinjo leaf extract patches and oral melinjo leaf extract were not significantly different from the positive control (p>0.05) with a per cent inflammation value of 48.35% and inflammation inhibition of 45.75% and compared to oral melinjo leaf extract with the percentage value of inflammation was 63.44% and inhibition of inflammation was 52.21%. Based on the study results, it was concluded that the transdermal patch of melinjo leaf extract is effective as an anti-inflammatory because it has a faster effect than the ethanol extract of melinjo leaves orally.
