Payung Island has an important role for the Sungsang village community. Pulau Payung which is dominated by mangroves and nipa palm is a habitat for several species of reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish and crabs. The mangrove vegetation on Payung Island is dominated by Sonneratia alba, Avicennia marina, Kandelia candel, and Rhizopora mucronata. The moist mangrove ecosystem and the abundance of litter strongly support the growth of macroscopic fungi as one of the decomposer agents. Macroscopic fungi are fungi that have a fruiting body structure and can be seen directly without using a microscope so they are easy to observe. The characteristics of the substrate and vegetation that are typical of Payung Island allow the fungi that grow to have their own characteristics. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the existence and diversity of macroscopic fungi that can grow in the mangrove ecosystem and in the future it can be used as a reference for further research. This research was conducted on Pulau Payung, Sungsang III village, Banyuasin Regency which was carried out from November 2021 to February 2022, The purpose of this study was to explore the presence of macroscopic fungi found on Payung Island and identify the genus of macroscopic fungi found on Payung Island. The conclusions obtained in this study, exploration of the Payung Island area of Sungsang Village found macroscopic fungi with various different characters. The macroscopic fungi found were identified in 6 genera, namely, Crepidotus, Daldinia, Coprinelus, Lentinus, Dichomitus and Lycoperdon. The most abundant macroscopic fungi growing in the Payung Island area are the genera Crepidotus.
