Sunlight cannot properly enter the water if it is blocked by the presence of suspended particles. The presence of suspended particles is closely related to input from land and phytoplankton abundance. This study aims to analyze the distribution of Total Suspended Solids based on sediment type and phytoplankton abundance and analyze water conditions on Payung Island. This research was conducted in September 2022. Sampling was carried out at 6 stations with 3 repetitions using the purposive sampling method. Data processing using Microsoft Excel and statistical analysis using simple linear regression analysis. The results showed the value of R = 0.712. The positive value indicates that the relationship between Total Suspended Solid and sediment type is directly proportional. The linear regression results obtained a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.5074. This shows that the higher the TSS value, the type of sediment that dominates is clay. Furthermore, the relationship between total suspended solid and phytoplankton abundance is shown by the mathematical equation y = -1.4981x + 614.74 with the coefficient of determination (R2) = 0.132 and the correlation coefficient R = 0.3633. The mathematical equation states that the relationship between TSS and phytoplankton abundance is inversely proportional in Payung Island Waters. The R-value states a strong relationship between TSS content and phytoplankton abundance in Payung Island Waters. Based on the results of the linear regression test, it states that the relationship between TSS and phytoplankton abundance is negative, namely the higher the TSS value, the lower the phytoplankton abundance. Based on Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 22 of 2021 concerning national water quality standards, Payung Island Waters are included in class 3, which means they are suitable for use as aquaculture sites. Keywords: Payung Island, Total Suspended Solid, Phytoplankton, Sediment Type
