Palm oil waste is a by-product of oil palm production that is not included in the main product in the form of fiber or compost. BIS contains crude protein 16.07%, crude fiber 21.30%, dry matter 91.30%, ash 3.71%, crude fat 8.23%, Ca 0.27%. So far, BIS is only used as fertilizer, fish feed, and also a mixture of planting media. But its utilization is not optimal. An appropriate technology is needed that can process BIS into something useful or useful. One of them uses Hermetia illucens which is a bioconversion agent that will utilize organic waste as feed, and is used to increase maggot body biomass. Low feed quality because feed ingredients in the form of BIS have a low digestibility value or high crude fiber. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the quality of feed by fermentation and to add additional nutrients using Aspergillus niger and EM4. EM4 contains mostly photosynthetic bacteria, and A. niger can break down the crude fiber in the fermentation process because it has cellulosic enzymes. This research was conducted from November to December 2021, at the Biosystematics Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and compare palm kernel cake waste that has been fermented using A. niger and EM4 on the conversion of feed ratio, maggot weight, and sex ratio of imago (H. illucens). The stages of the research carried out were making BIS media, making BIS fermentation media with A. niger, making BIS fermentation media with EM4, and treatment of test animals. The study concluded that the feeding of palm kernel cake fermented with A. niger and EM4 affected the conversion value of the feed ratio, maggot weight, and sex ratio of imago. Feeding in the form of palm kernel cake with EM4 was the best for the conversion value of feed ratio, maggot weight, and sex ratio of imago.
