Free radicals are relatively unstable molecules with atoms that have one or more unpaired atoms in their outer orbit. Degenerative diseases can be anticipated by the presence of antioxidant compounds. Antioxidants are substances that can counteract or prevent oxidation reactions caused by free radicals. Antioxidants are able to inhibit free radicals and turn them into non-radical compounds. Therefore it is necessary to carry out further research on antioxidant-producing plants. Kandis acid (Garcinia parvifolia (Miq.) Miq.) has the potential to produce antioxidant compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of the fractions, compound groups and IC50 values. This research was conducted from August to December 2022 at the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory, Department of Biology, FMIPA, Sriwijaya University. The research methods used were extraction, fractionation, antioxidant activity test of the fractions using the thin layer chromatography method, compound isolation, antioxidant activity test of the fractions using a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, and determination of the IC50 value using the DPPH method. The results of the antioxidant activity test using the KLT plate of the n-hexane and ethyl acetate fractions had stronger antioxidant activity than the water-methanol fraction. Pure isolates N1.1 and N2 with very strong antioxidant activity, N6 with strong antioxidant activity belong to the group of steroid compounds with IC50 values of 13.30 ppm, 36.73 ppm and 82.42 ppm. Pure isolates N1.8, N5, E3 and E5 which belong to the class of flavonoid compounds with very strong antioxidant activity have IC50 values of 31.38 ppm, 8.16 ppm and 5.91 respectively. Pure isolates E2 with very strong antioxidant activity and E4 with very weak antioxidant activity belong to the phenol group with IC50 values of 41.38 ppm and 214.28 ppm.
