To reduce the negative impact of population growth that is not controlled, then the solution that can be done is population projections. This study aims to from the Exponential trend equation and Parabolic to estimate the population of South Sumatra Province based on gender. From the research results, the equation is obtained the Exponential trend for the male gender is y=4082700(1.0136)^x, Exponential trend equation for female gender is y=3951513(1.0137)^x, and the Exponential trend equation for gender male and female gender are y=8034213(1.0137)^x. Parabolic trend equation for male is y=4092942.05+55156.68x-〖650.16x〗^2, Parabolic trend equation for female gender is y=3960117.50+53753.18x-〖493.80x〗^2, and the Parabolic trend equation for gender male and female are y=8053059.55+108909.86x-〖1143.96x〗^2. The parabolic method is better for estimation the population of South Sumatra than the Exponential method because it has a smaller standard error of estimation, namely the male population 1203.28, the famale population 567.33, the male and famale population 1452.81.
