UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK METANOL BUAH TEMBESU (FAGRAEA FRAGANS ROXB.) DENGAN METODE DPPH
Tembesu (Fagrea fragans Roxb.) is a wood-producing plant originating from the island of Sumatra, especially South Sumatra. Every part of the plant has long been used by people as tradisional medicine. The methanol extract of Tembesu fruit were known to contained phenolic, flavanoid and tannin compounds wich have antioxidant activity, but the ability of methanol extract of Tembesu fruit as an antioxidant has never benn carried out before. Tembesu fruit also contains triterpenoids identified as ursolic acid and oleanic acid. This research was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity of methanol extract of Tembesu fruit (Fagraea fragrans Roxb.) before and after separating the crystal precipitate. The antioxidant activity of samples extract total (A), filtrate (B) and crystal (C) was measured by the DPPH method and the IC50 values were 373.3 mg/L (moderate); 186.5 mg/L (strong), and >1000 mg/L (inactive), respectively. The content of phenolic and flavonoid compounds in tembesu fruit was donate hydrogen atoms to DPPH radicals. The results showed that the total phenolic content of samples extract total (A) and filtrate (B) were 13.73 mgGAE/g and 23.34 mgGAE/g and the total flavanoid content were 5.83 mgQE/g and 9.08 mgQE/g, respectively. Based on this data, it is known that the total phenolic and flavanoid levels of the methanol extract of tembesu fruit increased after the crystal precipitate was separated as well as its antioxidant activity.
