PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN KARET REMAH (CRUMB RUBBER) YANG MENGALAMI PERLAKUAN PEMANASAN TERHADAP KUAT TEKAN BETON
In the present work, Rubber concrete is a promising new material in the world of construction. This type of concrete innovation is created by replacing sand with rubber particles. This material aims to reduce certain environmental impacts and has special properties compared to ordinary concrete. However, its physical and mechanical properties are still being explored. There have been many modifications made by previous researchers to obtain high mechanical properties, for example, mixing with NaOH, soaking rubber with water, by heating and others. From a number of these modifications still need to be continued so that the special properties possessed by rubber concrete can be optimized. The rubber material used in the concrete mixture is a material from rubber waste which is reprocessed into crumb rubber which is used for various needs. The inexpensive rubber used in this study was applied in concrete. In connection with the exploration of the mechanical properties of rubber concrete which is still being carried out, one of them is by giving treatment to the rubber material before use. So the purpose of this research is to get the value of compressive strength and physical properties in the form of density from rubber mixed concrete that has received heating treatment beforehand. On this basis, the research used rubber treatment heated using an oven with a temperature of 1500C. The rubber is heated for 1 hour. The purpose of the heating is to remove materials or substances attached to the rubber which are expected to affect the effect of rubber on the mechanical properties of rubber concrete. The method used is to make a test object with a composition of 5%, 10%, 15%, which is then subjected to a compressive strength test. The results of the experiments carried out showed that the compressive strength of the 5% rubber mixture of 27.8 MPa had a higher value than other rubber mixtures with a higher proportion. The performance value of the compressive strength of rubber mixed concrete which is 92% of normal concrete does not contribute more than normal concrete. However, the strength ability of rubber concrete that has undergone heating treatment is quite high compared to the ability of other previous studies. In addition, the density of rubber concrete which is lower than normal concrete is also achieved.
