PENGARUH KONSENTRASI AKTIVATOR HCl PADA PEMBUATAN KARBON AKTIF TEMPURUNG KELAPA SAWIT UNTUK ADSORPSI LOGAM TIMBAL (Pb)
Oil palm shell has high cellulose content so that it can be utilized as activated carbon for heavy metal absorption. Activated carbon from oil palm shells was prepared by varying HCl concentration, adsorbent weight and contact time. Activated carbon was characterized using FTIR and lead metal (Pb) was analyzed using SSA. The results of the characterization of activated carbon of oil palm shell carbonized at 400°C and sieved using 100 mesh sieve showed the presence of O-H and C-O functional groups which identified that there were still organic compounds in activated carbon. Activated carbon of oil palm shell varies the best HCl activator concentration at a concentration is 1.5 M with a moisture content is 4.22%, ash content is 9.4%, iodine absorption is 926.3% and a surface area against methylene blue is 2152.4 "m" ^"2" / g. The best adsorbent weight was 2.5 g with adsorption efficiency is 90.53% and adsorption capacity is 0.7246 mg/g. The best contact time was 50 minutes with adsorption efficiency is 93.04% and adsorption capacity is 0.7443 mg/g. The results identified that the adsorption mechanism that occurred was close to the Langmuir isotherm equation with a value of 〖" R" 〗^"2" = 0.99994 and the adsorption kinetics followed the second-order pseudo equation with a value of "R" ^"2" = 0.99998 so that adsorption occurred chemically
