The purpose of this study to determine the relationship between optimism and academic adjustment among first year college students. The hypothesis in this study is that there is relationship between optimism and academic adjustment.The participants in this study were 160 first year college students in Indonesia. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The study measurements are optimism scale that refers to the explanatory style dimension of optimism from to Seligman (2006), and academic adjustment scale that refers to the academic adjustment aspect from to Baker and Siryk (Papageorgiou & Callaghan, 2018).
