Background: Wound is a disruption of the continuity of the epithelial lining of the skin or mucosa due to physical or thermal damage. One of the injuries that occur in the soft tissues of the oral cavity is the post-tooth extraction wound. Herbal ingredients that can be used for wound healing are baung fish. The content of omega-3 and albumin in baung fish can be antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and can accelerate the regeneration process. Objective: To determine the effect of baung fish extract on the number of neutrophils after tooth extraction in male wistar strains. Method: This research is experimental with a post test only control group design. A total of 24 samples were divided into 6 groups, 3 control groups (aquades) and 3 treatment groups (baung fish extract) for 3 days. After tooth extraction, baung fish extract was applied to the tooth sockets of Wistar rats according to the treatment group twice a day. Wistar rats were euthanized according to the day, then the tissue was taken and histological preparations were made. The number of neutrophils in the tissue was counted and analyzed using the Olympus Software. Results: The average number of neutrophils in the treatment group was lower than the control group, both on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd day. The average number of neutrophils will decrease with increasing treatment time. The negative control group on day 1 showed the highest average neutrophil count of 38.75, while the lowest average neutrophil count was shown by the 3-day baung fish extract group of 10.25. Conclusion: There is an effect of giving baung fish extract on the number of neutrophils. Giving the extract on day 3 had a significant effect, whereas on days 1 and 2 it had no statistically significant effect on the average neutrophil count.
