KARAKTERISTIK PASIEN TRAUMA TUMPUL TORAKS DISERTAI FRAKTUR IGA YANG DIRAWAT DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2019 - 2021.
Background: Thoracic trauma become third leading cause of death for trauma with 70 % thoracic trauma case is blunt trauma, often caused by traffic accident with rib fracture incidence rate around 10-20 %. The aim of this study is to find out characteristics of blunt thoracic trauma patient with rib fracture based on age, gender, trauma etiology, associated trauma, type of rib fracture, location of rib fracture, rib fracture count, hospital length of stay, sign and symptoms, complications, treatment, and patient outcome. Methods: This study is a descriptive retrospective study with secondary data from RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang Medical Record Installation with 54 patients as study subject. Results: The dominant characteristic of blunt thoracic trauma patient with rib fracture in this study is male (81.5 %), 45−54 years old (31.5 %), with age averaged 42.50 ± 14.605, caused by motorcycle accident (48.1 %), with extremity trauma (31.5 %), suffers closed fracture (100 %), with rib fracture count 3.52 ± 2.221, fracture at posterior rib V-VIII (29.2 %), treated at hospital as long as 9.24 ± 3.409 days, with symptoms chest pain (100 %), complications haemothorax (27.8 %), treated operatively (83.3 %), and patient outcome outpatient (94.4 %). Conclusion: Age, gender, trauma etiology, associated trauma, types of rib fracture, location of rib fracture, rib fracture count, hospital length of stay, signs and symptoms, complication, treatment, and patient outcome are characteristics that could be found at blunt thoracic trauma with rib fracture patient
