PENGARUH EKSTRAK BIJI DUKU (Lansium domesticum Corr)TERHADAP JUMLAH NEUTROFIL PASCA PENCABUTAN GIGI TIKUS WISTAR.
Background: Extraction is a minor oral surgical procedure performed to remove a tooth or tooth root from its socket on the alveolar bone in the oral cavity. The process of tooth extraction causes hard and soft tissue damage. Currently, many studies use bio-based materials, for example those from plants. One type of plant that contains bioactive compounds that can be developed is duku seeds. Based on phytochemical tests, duku seeds contain compounds that can accelerate the inflammatory phase of the wound healing process, namely; flavonoids, triterpenoids, and saponins. Objective: To determine the effect of administration of duku seed extract (Lansium domesticum corr) on the number of neutrophils after tooth extraction of Wistar rats. Methods: The type of research used is a true experimental laboratory with a post test only control group design research design as many as 48 wistar rats divided into 12 groups, namely 3 control groups (placebo gel) and 9 treatment groups (50% duku seed extract gel, 60% and 75% for 3 days). The left maxillary incisor of the rat was anesthetized and then extracted using a needle holder. After extraction, apply duku seed extract on the tooth sockets of the rat according to the treatment group 2 times a day. Groups 1, 2, 3 and 10 were euthanized on day 1, groups 4, 5, 6 and 11 were euthanized on day 2, and groups 7, 8, 9 and 12 were euthanized on day 3, then tissues were taken and histological preparations were made. The number of neutrophils was calculated using Olympus software and analyzed statistically. Results: The average number of neutrophils in the treatment group was less than the control group (both after treatment for 1 day, 2 days, or 3 days), there was a statistically significant difference, especially in the 75% group. However, in the 50% and 60% treatment groups there was an average difference that was not statistically significant. The average number of neutrophils (PMN) in the treatment group that was given 75% duku seed extract compared to placebo gel showed the largest average difference. Conclusion: There was an effect of giving duku seed extract with concentrations of 50%, 60% and 75% in reducing the number of neutrophils compared to the control group (both after treatment for 1 day, 2 days, or 3 days). However, it was not statistically significant in the 50% and 60% groups. Duku seed extract gel with a concentration of 75% is the most effective concentration of duku seed extract in reducing the number of neutrophils.
