At present the community's need for electrical energy consumption increases from year to year at the Boom Baru Substation, so that the electric power system must be able to guarantee in terms of availability and quality of service. One form of transformer disturbance that often occurs in substations is NGR. Neutral Grounding Resistor (NGR) which is one of the grounding systems that functions as a current limiter or minimizes fault currents, especially single-phase short-circuit faults to ground. The NGR also sends a signal through the current transformer to the Ground Fault Relay (GFR) which functions to break the circuit breaker if the fault current exceeds that obtained by the transformer. Therefore, it is necessary to re-calculate to determine the condition and readiness of safety equipment to maintain the reliability of the electric power system. Therefore the author performs a one-phase-to-ground short circuit fault analysis using the Ground Fault Relay (GFR) setting on a 30 MVA transformer at the Boom Baru Substation by using short circuit fault analysis calculations and also calculating ground fault relay settings. The calculation results obtained on the value of the single-phase short-circuit current to ground using R = 40 ꭥ at a location with a fault of 25% at the date feeder is 277.2337 A. while the short-circuit current value of one-phase to ground with solid grounding at the location of the fault of 25% on date feeders is 579.4504 A. so using NGR is much better than solid grounding. From the results of calculating the GFR setting using the Standard Inverse characteristic, the TMS value has the same magnitude for each feeder, which is equal to 0.1 SI.
