HUBUNGAN LAMA PEMAKAIAN SOFT CONTACT LENS DENGAN KEJADIAN SINDROM MATA KERING PADA MAHASISWA PSPD FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
Background: The use of soft contact lenses can cause various complaints. One of the most common complaints is dry eyes. There is a study which states that there is a relationship between the length of use of soft contact lenses and the incidence of dry eye syndrome. However, there are also studies which state that there is no relationship. Method: This type of research is an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional study approach. How to collect data in this study using an online questionnaire. The sample in this study was taken using a consecutive sampling technique with 56 PSPD students of the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University class 2019-2022. Result: The majority of soft contact lens users are in the light time category ( 8 hours) as much as 69.6%. In the analysis using the Chi-Square using the CLDEQ-8 questionnaire, the p-value = 0.345 with the value of confidence interval (CI) = 0,070-2,161. Conclusion: The use of light (≤8 hours) and heavy (>8 hours) soft contact lenses did not cause dry eye syndrome.
