KARAKTERISTIK MORTALITAS PASIEN SEPSIS YANG DIRAWAT DI RUANG PERAWATAN INTENSIF RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2018-2019
Background: Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a disorganized host response to infection. Sepsis is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the intensive care unit, with a mortality rate in Asia including Indonesia reaching 44.5%. Risk factors that can increase sepsis mortality are age, sex, comorbid diseases, and the installation of mechanical ventilation or RRT in the ICU. Several scoring systems designed to predict patient mortality in the ICU include the SOFA score and the APACHE II score. Mortality in sepsis is caused by multi-organ failure due to a systemic inflammatory reaction. This study aims to describe the characteristics of mortality in sepsis patients treated in the Intensive Care Unit of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method: This research is an observational descriptive study. The data collected is secondary data obtained from patient medical records at the medical record installation of RSMH Palembang. Data collected by total sampling technique. Then the data were analyzed by means of univariate statistical analysis using SPSS version 26. Results: Of the 92 study subjects, it was found that the majority of subjects were aged ≤44 years (25%) and male (55.4%) with a length of stay of ≤9 days (76.1%). Based on the scoring system in the ICU, it was found that more research subjects had a total SOFA score of >9 (52.2%) and had a total APACHE II score in the range of 20-24 (38%). Based on the number of organ dysfunctions, most of the subjects experienced dysfunction of 3 organs (59.8%) with respiratory dysfunction (72.8%) being the most common. Most of the subjects had comorbid hypertension (41.3%) and received mechanical ventilation interventions (66.3%). Conclusion: Most of the study subjects were aged ≤44 years, male sex and length of stay ≤9 days. More subjects had a total SOFA score >9 and a total APACHE II score in the range of 20-24. Most of the subjects experienced 3-organ dysfunction with a lot of respiratory dysfunction. Hypertension is the most common comorbid disease. In the ICU most of the subjects received mechanical ventilation interventions. Keywords: mortality, sepsis, intensive care unit
