Sudden death is defined as death that is unexpected and occurs suddenly within one hour of the onset of symptoms or from the time the individual was seen alive in his last healthy condition. Sudden natural death, or sudden natural unexpected death, is defined as death caused by disease and not the result of poisoning or trauma. Every death has a cause. In this case, sudden death includes death that may be caused by disease or problems and damage to the system human body. This study aims to determine the characteristics of sudden death cases at the Forensic and Body Retrieval Installation of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This study used a descriptive observational design. The population of this study were all cases of sudden death at the Forensic and Body Retrieval Installation of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin. Data was obtained through visum et repertum, medical records, and body labels. Data were analyzed using the SPSS program. The variables of this study consisted of gender, age, identity, type of examination, and cause of death based on body systems. Keyword: Sudden Death, Autopsy, Forensic medicine, Body systems
