Background. Otitis externa (OE) is an inflammation of the cutis and subcutis in the external auditory canal. OE has symptoms of pain and fullness in the ear. Otitis externa is most often caused by bacteria. This study aims to determine the characteristics of otitis externa patients at department of otorhinolarynology RSUP Dr.Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method. This research was classified as a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design using secondary data in the form of medical records of otitis externa patients at department of otorhinolarynology RSUP Dr.Mohammad Hoesin Palembang From 2019-2021 using a purposive sampling technique. Results. In this study, there was 83 samples of otitis externa patients at department of otorhinolaryngology RSUP Dr.Mohammad Hoesin Palembang From 2019-2021 icluded. The age group that affected the most are the one in the age of 18-65 years (66.3%), male gender (50.6%), not working (33.7%), complaints of pain (61.4%), diffuse otitis externa (57,8%), and given topical and oral antimicrobial therapy (56.6%). Conclusion. This study shows that otitis externa patient at department of otorhinolaryngology RSUP Dr.Mohammad Hoesin Palembang From 2019-2021 are dominated by patients with the age group of 18-65 years, male gender, not working, complaints of pain, diffuse otitis externa and given topical and oral antimicrobial therapy.
