Background: Preeclampsia is a hypertension disorder in pregnancy accompanied by proteinuria that occurs after the 20th week of pregnancy. Preeclampsia is an obstetric complication that affects around 4-5% of pregnancies worldwide. It is estimated that there are around 128,273 cases of preeclampsia each year in Indonesia. The prevalence of preeclampsia with complications at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the 2015-2017 period is 14.45%. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal age and the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang General Hospital for the 2020-2021 period. Method: This study uses an observational analytic research method with a cross-sectional design. The data used is secondary data in the form of patient medical records at the Medical Record Installation for the period January 1, 2020 to December 31 2021, which meets the exclusion and inclusion criteria and will be analyzed using the Chi Square test. Result: There were 555 people (19.1%) who had preeclampsia and 2,351 people (80.9%) who did not have preeclampsia (80.9%) of a total of 2,906 pregnant women at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang General Hospital for the 2020-2021 period. Of the 133 samples who had preeclampsia, there were 25 pregnant women (18.8%) with early onset preeclampsia and 108 pregnant women (81.2%) with late onset preeclampsia. This study shows that maternal age as the risk factor of preeclampsia was not statistically significant, neither its prevalence (p-value=0,279; PR=1,173) nor its onset (p-value=0,782; PR=1,047) refer to preeclampsia in pregnant women. Conclusion: This study shows that maternal age as the risk factor of preeclampsia was not statistically significant, neither its prevalence nor its onset refer to preeclampsia in pregnant women at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the 2020-2021 period. Keywords: preeclampsia, early onset preeclampsia, late onset preeclampsia, maternal age.
